The 2027 Eclipse
The total solar eclipse of 2027 August 2
· Totality will be visible in southern Spain as well as northern African countries and the Middle East
· The total solar eclipse of 2027 is the second longest totality in the 21st century
· The maximum duration of totality will be 6min 23sec and can be observed in Egypt
· The path of totality will cross over the southern coast of Spain as well as Ceuta and Melilla in the African continent
· In the Iberian Peninsula a longer totality will be seen as we head to the south
· Totality will last more than 4.5 minutes in Tarifa in the south of the Peninsula as well as Ceuta and Melilla in the African continent
· Although some cities like Malaga and Cadiz are located quite far from the center line, however the duration of totality is remarkable in those areas. (About two minutes in Malaga and three minutes in Cadiz)
· This eclipse happens in Spain only a year after the total solar eclipse of 2026 in a vast area of this country
· Spain will be the only European country to visit the path of totality
· Once again summer vacation provides a good opportunity for travelers to come and enjoy this inspiring sky show along the southern coast of Spain
· The central line of the path will not cross over the soil of Spain but still over four minutes of totality will be seen from the southern coast
· Since this solar eclipse occurs in summer clear sky is predictable in this area of Spain to observe the event
· There won’t be any further totality in Europe till 2053, in which, once again Spain will be the only European country to observe the totality
